Studies on caste, religion and gender have evolved dynamically
over the past few decades in India. Yet the events of the year 2016 have pushed
us towards a more dynamic analysis from an intersectional lens; both caste and
communal politics are fused together by the discrimination within universities of Dalits and religious minorities. In an ethos where seeking justice
becomes anti-national and anti-Indian culture, neither patriarchy, nor caste, nor
religion can be studied from a singular framework.
Gatha believes in looking at these
disciplines keeping in mind the systemic and structural biases in an attempt to
unpack various elements of intersectionality. Gatha hopes to provide a
space for dissent, resistance and freedom for academic thought and scholarship
in this stead. We hope to receive work from individuals who are as enthusiastic
and passionate about unravelling these disciplines through an intersectional
framework and look forward to engaging with you. Apart from academic work, the
blog also features stories, personal narratives, poems, open letters, photos
essays, short films. For more details check our Submission Guidelines.
